Vegan Buttercream


  • 1 cup Earth Balance shortening
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 plain soy milk


  1. Beat the Earth Balance until fluffy. Add sugar and beat until it forms stiff peaks, about 3 more minutes.
  2. Add vanilla and soymilk. Beat for another 5-7 minutes until fluffy.


This can be made with non-vegan ingredients – just substitute butter for Earth Balance and milk for soy milk.
