PRO TIP: When traveling in a tightly packed, enclosed space with kids, make sure to pack your sense of humor.

Now that I’ve been using Procreate for a bit, I’m starting to play around with it a bit more. I’ve set up a couple of custom brush presets that I really like. This week, I’m trying a new coloring monochromatic coloring technique. It lets me concentrate more on blocking out the lights and darks in the image and it’s a lot faster. Also, I like how easy it is to set mood with just one color.

I will say, as great as the iPad Pro & Pencil are for drawing, I still prefer drawing on paper with a pencil. The iPad’s glass surface doesn’t provide the same satisfying tactile feedback and I haven’t quite figured out how to “feel” what I’m drawing with the Apple pencil the way I can with traditional media. I’m hoping this improves as time goes on because it’s really my only complaint so far.Imho, where the iPad really shines is coloring. The selection tool in Procreate is amazing – I’m able to draw my selections in multiple passes and easily add or subtract spaces to them. Being able to zoom and rotate as I’m doing the selection is pretty nice too.
