A Well-Deserved Rest
We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
– William Shakespeare
I really fell in love with the straited rock textures of the last dragon and knew I wanted to spend more time developing them. Immediately, the idea of a sleeping mountain dragon made of rock popped into my head.
I’m slowly putting together a palette of favorite colors and figuring out how to put them together. I’ve always struggled with using color in my work; they’re so many and they’re all so great! Now that I’ve chosen a limited subset of colors I like to work with, choosing colors and set the tone for the drawing is a lot easier.
Another thing I’ve started doing is using the selection and fill tools in Procreate to color and edit specific areas instead of trying to precisely paint shapes of color. I rough out the colors I want with a brush, but I use the selection tools to brighten, darken, and edit areas of color and to smooth contours. It’s probably not as intuitive as painting might be but then I was never much of a traditional painter to begin with.
